Abstract

The aim of this paper is to investigate the ways in which different mental health laws constitute the field they refer to. Firstly, we begin by regarding the formative character in every law, as long as language consisting of ‘the real’ when naming it, so as to then analyze in particular some aspects of each of the three selected laws, two of them corresponding to provincial laws (San Juan province, Law N° 10772) and the National Mental Health and Addiction Law N° 26657. Thirdly, a brief overview is presented that allows us to call into question what is considered ‘madness’ as a natural object to be understood as a category which is built by discourses that have been traversed by history and culture.
